Coatings
PCBs are usually finished with solder resist coating and letter print. Apart from that, further coatings with different functions can be applied onto and into the PCB.
| Solder resist | green, blue, red, black, white |
Photo-structurable epoxy coatings Silkscreen: approx. 20 μm (green, blue, black, red, …) Curtain coating: approx. 50 μm (green)
| Solder resist film | green | 38 μm or 100 μm laminable, photo-structurable | |
| Screen print | white, yellow |
Marking print, position print
| Blue mask | blue, white | Selective, solderable, peelable temporary coating, blue (thick, also known as “blue mask”) or white (thin) | |
| Carbon print | black | Alternative to hard gold for push contacts, sliders. Can be used as potentiometer and printed resistors | |
| Via fill | green | Closing vias with via fill | |
| Plugging | opaque | Via fill with plated, solderable plugs | |
| Special coatings, adhesives | various | Customer-specific requirements on all processible materials | |
| Coverlay | orange | Cover on Kapton/acrylic basis, e.g. for higher electric strength |
